Motorcycle - 80 Hour Dual Purpose Motorcycle Training Course
 
FEE: $1,511.00

LOCATION: Alameda County Sheriff's Office - Regional Training Center, 6289 Madigan Road, Dublin CA 94568 [MAP]

DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to teach basic motor skills, judgment, safety, proficiency and patrol procedures for the on and off road motorcycle trainee to become qualified as a dual-purpose motor officer. This course meets all mandates and requirements as set forth by POST.

THIS COURSE IS NOT MEANT FOR ZERO EMISSION MOTORS. (ZERO BIKES)

INSTRUCTOR: All instructors are POST certified veteran motor officers and off-road riders.

PREREQUISITE: All students must have an M1 Endorsement.  Must be a full-time or reserve law enforcement officer. All students must be in good physical condition and free from prior injuries that may be aggravated by physical activity. Students should have basic civilian motorcycle skills, either on or off-road.  All Non Alameda County students must also sign a liability waiver (enclosed). Class will be limited to 10 motorcycle officers.

PRESENTATION DATES & HOURS: This is an 80 hour course that will be presented normally from 0800 hours to 1700 hours each day.  There will be a night ride from 1300-2200 hrs. Check the calendar below for available dates.

CERTIFICATION: POST Plan IV.

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Students are required to have:

  1. Gas Dual purpose motorcycle (highly recommend Dunlop DOT 606 style tires or equivalent for loose terrain traction).  
  2. ACSO RTC has gas Suzuki DR 650's for rent at $50.00 per day. 
  3. A certified D.O.T. motorcycle helmet and shatter resistant eye protection
  4. Departmental Utility Uniform
  5. Gloves
  6. 200 rounds of duty ammo.

RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT:  "Off-road" helmet, "off-road" goggles, off-road adventure style boots, knee and elbow guards.

It is also highly encouraged that students receive motorcycle pre-training to ensure they have the basic skills needed to start the course.  Alameda County Sheriff's Office also offers a Motorcycle Skills Orientation course.  Please contact EVOC Coordinator, Deputy Ron Graber at 925-551-6987 or rgraber@acgov.org for more information

PAYMENT: Tuition will be accepted on the day of the course with either cash or check made out to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office.  Credit card payments can be made prior to the course either on-line or by visiting the main office at the Regional Training Center, Monday through Friday 0800-1700.  If you have any questions regarding payment, please call 925-551-6970.

CANCELLING REGISTRATION:  To cancel a registration for a course, please notify the Regional Training Center via e-mail or phone. E-mail cancellations can be directed to rtcinfo@sheriffacademy.com and phone cancellations to (925) 551-6970. In all cases, course cancellations less than 5 business days' prior to class start date, may be subject to a course cancellation fee equal to 50% of the course tuition. Students who fail to attend the course without cancelling prior to the start of the course (No Show) will be charged the full course tuition.
