Firearms/Tactical Rifle for First Responder FEE: $339.00 LOCATION: Alameda County Sheriff's Office - Regional Training Center, 6289 Madigan Road, Dublin CA 94568 [MAP] DESCRIPTION: This 24-hour course is designed to train individuals in the use of the patrol rifle or carbine. This course will enable the first responder an option now becoming the standard in Law Enforcement. Some of the topics covered are rifle safety, marksmanship, zeroing procedures, firing positions, ballistics, reloading drills, malfunction drills, proper use of the rifle sling, basic tactics, low light engagements, and cover. Each attendee will be required to demonstrate proper usage and safe handling of the rifle. This class was previously called Firearms/Basic Rifle Carbine Operator. NOTE: This course meets the P.O.S.T. and Penal Code requirements per Section 33220(b) PC. INSTRUCTOR: Deputy Reed (Ret.) has served as a Firearms Instructor for over twenty years. He is a certified NRA handgun, shotgun, rifle, submachine gun, and long-range rifle instructor. In addition to serving as the Basic Academy Range Coordinator, RA Deputy Reed also has responsibilities for tactical firearms training, firearms instructor training, and other Regional Training Center range programs. RA Deputy Reed has received extensive firearms training from some of the nations most recognized instructors and has also competed at national shooting competitions. PREREQUISITES: This course has both physical and mental components that will be challenging. Students must be full-time peace officers or active duty military personnel. All students who are not members of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office must sign a liability waiver. PRESENTATION HOURS: This is a 24-hour course that starts at 0800 on the first day of the course. The second day is a night session and will start at 1300. CERTIFICATION: POST Plan II. POST Cert #1010-32175 COLLEGE CREDITS: 0.50 Chabot College Units on completion of course. Optional equipment includes Hydration system, knee and elbow pads, and sunscreen. RESERVATIONS: This course is limited to 24 students and reservations will be made on a first come, first serve basis.
