1-Day Civilian EVOC Safety Course FEE: $300.00 (cash or check due at beginning of class) LOCATION: Alameda County Sheriff's Office - Regional Training Center, 6289 Madigan Road, Dublin CA 94568 [MAP] DESCRIPTION: EVOC: Emergency Vehicle Operations Course This course is designed to instruct civilians in good defensive driving tactics. This course is also good pretraining for anyone who is going to be entering a police academy and wishes to learn some of the techniques which will be taught. Heavy emphasis is placed on skid recovery, loss of control recovery, control during a blowout, and operating on less than ideal surfaces. The students will demonstrate a working knowledge of driver skills by successfully driving such courses as the Skid Pan, the Hazard Avoidance Simulator, Threshold/ABS Braking Simulator, and other various skill and precision oriented activities.
PREREQUISITE: Must be in excellent physical condition and free of any prior injuries that may be aggravated by intensive vehicle weight transfer, braking, turning, or skidding. PRESENTATION HOURS: This is an 8-hour course that will be presented from 0800-1700. LOCATION: Report to the Regional Training Center at 6289 Madigan Rd., Dublin. If you choose to bring a lunch there are large refrigerators in the RTC breakroom as well as a soda and snack machine. Otherwise, there are numerous restaurants within a couple miles of the RTC. REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Students are required to have a valid drivers license with atleast 6 months driving experience and auto insurance. Students should wear suitable clothing, such as long pants (no shorts or skirts), a comfortable shirt and sturdy shoes. Athletic shoes are acceptable. No sandals, highs heels, or dress shoes allowed. Vehicles are provided (FORD Explorers & Crown Victorias). PAYMENT POLICY: As part of our ongoing efforts to streamline operations and enhance the experience for all students, we are implementing a new policy regarding tuition payments. All course tuition must be paid in full prior to the start of class. Payments should be completed no later than the first day of class. If payment is not received by this date, the individual may be asked to reschedule or defer attendance until payment is received. Tuition payments can be made online during the course registration process. Alternatively, payments can be made by phone or in person on the first day of class. We accept cash, check, or credit card as suitable forms of payment. Please note that a 2.49% non-refundable service fee will apply to all credit card transactions. CANCELLING REGISTRATION: To cancel a registration for a course, please notify the Regional Training Center via e-mail or phone. In all cases, course cancellations less than 5 business days' prior to class start date, may be subject to a course cancellation fee equal to 50% of the course tuition.
