Driver Training (EVOC) Update - 1-Day Basic EVOC Update FEE: $324.00 LOCATION: Alameda County Sheriff's Office - Regional Training Center, 6289 Madigan Road, Dublin CA 94568 [MAP] DESCRIPTION: This 8-hour course is designed to instruct law enforcement personnel in the lawful requirements of operating an emergency vehicle under normal patrol, pursuit and 'Code 3' conditions. The student will be instructed in the areas required by POST in order to meet the mandated training requirements in Penal Code Section 13519.8. The student will demonstrate a working knowledge of driver skills by successfully driving such courses as the Skid Pan, Hazard Avoidance Simulator, Emergency Braking, Offset Alleys, Serpentine, Code-3 and Pursuit course. This course meets the POST Perishable Skills Mandate for Driver Training/Awareness. Must provide proof of being either a Level I Reserve Officer or Full Time Peace Officer. INSTRUCTORS: All instructors are POST certified driving instructors. PREREQUISITE: Must provide proof of being a Level I Reserve Officer or Full Time Peace Officer. Must be in excellent physical condition and free of any prior injuries that may be aggravated by intensive vehicle weight transfer, braking, turning or skidding. All students who are not members of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office must sign a liability waiver. COURSE CERTIFICATION: POST Plan IV, Course Control Number - 1010-21155. PRESENTATION DATES AND HOURS: This is an 8-hour course that will be presented on the below listed dates. The course is normally presented from 0800 to 1700 hours. Agencies who need special dates and times can contact the EVOC Coordinator for special scheduling. REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Students are required to have a valid drivers license. Students should wear suitable clothing, such as long pants (no shorts or skirts), a comfortable shirt (with sleeves) and sturdy shoes. Athletic shoes are acceptable. No sandals, highs heels, open toes or dress shoes allowed. No gun belts or handguns are allowed on the course. Vehicles are provided by the RTC. RESERVATIONS: This course is limited to 14 students and reservations will be made on a first come, first serve basis. ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: All students are expected to complete courses in their entirety. This includes assigned hours and assignments/projects that may be given to the students by the instructors. In the case of an unforeseen absence such as an emergency, the student shall not be considered completing the course if he/she misses more than 10% of the course hours. The exception is the Regular Basic Course or Academy which is 5% of the course hours. Course Instructors may assign students additional projects and or work to satisfy minimum attendance hours with the approval of the RTC Captain. The various course listings are accessible by passing the cursor over the course category buttons, which causes specific course listings to drop below each category. Selecting the desired course listing, opens a course description page. Each course description page contains a button "[Register for Class]" that activates a link enabling the student/ Agency Training Manager to register for a course. Basic Course Academy Recruit Training registrants should refer to the specific registration requirements for this course. RE-SCHEDULING OF COURSES: Re-scheduling may be accomplished in the same manner as the registration procedures described above. STUDENT DRESS CODE: Unless otherwise specified in the course description, the student dress code at the Regional Training Center is business casual. No shorts, sleeveless shirts or open-toed shoes are permitted. CANCELLING REGISTRATION: To cancel a registration for a course, please notify the Regional Training Center via e-mail or phone. PAYMENT POLICY: As part of our ongoing efforts to streamline operations and enhance the experience for all students, we are implementing a new policy regarding tuition payments. All course tuition must be paid in full prior to the start of class. Payments should be completed no later than the first day of class. If payment is not received by this date, the individual may be asked to reschedule or defer attendance until payment is received. Tuition payments can be made online during the course registration process. Alternatively, payments can be made by phone or in person on the first day of class. We accept cash, check, or credit card as suitable forms of payment. Please note that a 2.49% non-refundable service fee will apply to all credit card transactions. We strongly encourage early payment to avoid any disruptions to your enrollment. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. No refunds are issued for a course once the course has begun. The RTC will return pre-paid tuition checks when students are cancelled with at least 5 business days' notice.
