First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Course
 
FEE: $430.00

LOCATION: Alameda County Sheriff's Office - Regional Training Center, 6289 Madigan Road, Dublin CA 94568 [MAP]

This 40-hour course is designed to train individuals to be First Aid/CPR/AED Instructors. The curriculum of this course was structured to comply with the updated Title 22 requirement. This course is POST approved (1010-21796) and reimbursable under plan IV.

This course goes beyond the typical First Aid / CPR course and makes the training specific to Law Enforcement. Subjects in this course include, but are not limited to:

  • Automated Electronic Defibrillator
  • Law Enforcement integration with EMS personnel
  • Psychological emergencies
  • Updated bleeding control
  • Assisted administration of Epinephrine and Naloxone (Narcan)

There will also be a considerable amount of time spent on the techniques of teaching and adult learning concepts. Each student will demonstrate teaching competency via a teach-back session on the final day of the course. The students will be prepared to develop and present a First Aid/CPR/AED course in the Basic Academy or during in-service training upon graduation.

Students should bring a laptop computer or other device capable of reading and writing to a USB drive.

PREREQUISITES: Possess current basic-level Adult CPR/AED certification 

INSTRUCTOR(S): ACSO Sergeant Keith Lydon is a California POST Certified First Aid/CPR Instructor. He is currently a member of the ACSO Special Response Unit (SRU) and assigned to the Regional Training Center as the Facilities Coordinator. 

PRESENTATION DATES: See below for dates available. This is a 40 hour course. It starts at 0800 hours and ends at 1700 hours each day.

RESERVATIONS: This course is limited to 30 students and reservations will be made on a first come, first served basis. Use the "Register for Class" link to submit reservations on-line. The Regional Training Center is now only allowing 2 spots per agency due to the high demand.  If you need more spots, please email us at rtcinfo@sheriffacademy.com for approval. If you need information please call (925) 551-6970. 

CANCELLING REGISTRATION:  To cancel a registration for a course, please notify the Regional Training Center via e-mail or phone. E-mail cancellations can be directed to rtcinfo@sheriffacademy.com and phone cancellations to (925) 551-6970. In all cases, course cancellations less than 5 business days' prior to class start date, may be subject to a course cancellation fee equal to 50% of the course tuition. Students who fail to attend the course without cancelling prior to the start of the course (No Show) will be charged the full course tuition.

LODGING: Reservations for lodging must be arranged by the student or his/her agency [Hotel List]
