Motorcycle Training Instructor - 80 Hour Motorcycle Instructor Course FEE: $2,109.00 LOCATION: Alameda County Sheriff's Office - Regional Training Center, 6289 Madigan Road, Dublin CA 94568 [MAP] Law Enforcment OnlyDESCRIPTION: This course is designed to meet the POST requirements for Motorcycle Training Instructor. This course of instruction allows the student to teach all facets of motorcycle operations relating to cone patterns, evasive manuevers, braking control, and solo and pairs riding. Students will also learn ADULT LEARNING THEORY and training techniques. This course is designed for those who wish to become motorcycle instructors for the Basic Police Motorcycle Course or who oversee in-service training for their agency. Included in the training are the lawful requirements of operating an emergency vehicle under Code 3 conditions and engaging into pursuits with a working knowledege of PC 13519.8 and general classroom instructor skills. The students will demonstrate a working knowledge of all the above skills by successfully riding and demonstrating above average riding skills along with teaching an actual Basic Police Motorcycle class. INSTRUCTORS: All instructors are POST certified Motorcycle instructors. PREREQUISITE: Must be either an active or retired peace officer, active or retired military personnel, unless prior arrangements are made with the EVOC Coordinator. Must be in excellent physical condition and free of any prior injuries that may be aggravated by intensive vehicle weight transfer, braking, turning or skidding. All students who are not members of the Alameda County Sheriff's Office must sign a liability waiver. PRESENTATION HOURS: This is an 80-hour course that will run from 0800 to 1700 each day. CERTIFICATION: POST control number: 1010-21540 POST Plan IV. REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Students are required to have: 1. A certified D.O.T. motorcycle helmet and shatter resistant eye protection Agency motorcycle is only required on the Friday of the first week, for an off-campus ride. Training motorcycles are provided at no cost to the student for the rest of the training.
