1- Day Commercial Basic Skills Update FEE: $300.00 LOCATION: Alameda County Sheriff's Office - Regional Training Center, 6289 Madigan Road, Dublin CA 94568 [MAP] DESCRIPTION: This course is designed to instruct commercial truck drivers. Heavy emphasis is placed on skid recovery, loss of control recovery, control during a blowout, and operating on less than ideal surfaces. The students will demonstrate a working knowledge of driver skills by successfully driving such courses as the Skid Pan, the Hazard Avoidance Simulator, Threshold Braking Simulator and other various skill and precision oriented activities. INSTRUCTORS: All instructors are POST certified with a wide range of experience. PREREQUISITE: Must be in excellent physical condition and free of any prior injuries that may be aggravated by intensive vehicle weight transfer, braking, turning or skidding. PRESENTATION HOURS: This is an 8-hour course that will be presented at 0800 and end at 1700. THIS COURSE IS NOT POST OR STC CERTIFIED. REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Students are required to have a valid drivers license or permit to operate their type of equipment, registration and vehicle insurance. Students must bring their own commercial vehicles, which will be driven after initial training with our vehicles(FORD Crown Victorias). Students should wear suitable clothing, such as long pants (no shorts), a comfortable shirt (with sleeves)and sturdy shoes. Athletic shoes are acceptable. No sandals, high heeled, open toed or dress shoes allowed. RESERVATIONS: This course is limited to 12 students and reservations will be made on a first come, first serve basis.
