Have you ever wanted to put yourself through an Academy but couldn’t take 6 months off work to do it? Now’s your chance – come be a part of the 3rd Extended Academy with the the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. This format is purposely designed to allow you to keep your day job, while studying for the career you want.
The hours will be Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday night from 6PM - 10PM and Saturday from 7AM - 5:30PM. NOTE* You will also be required to attend approximately ten Sundays of instruction, as well. The academy is 1,064 hours in length, which is the same number of hours as our intensive day time academy.
Spots are limited, so act now to guarantee your space on the application list. After signing up, your information will be provided to the night time academy coordinator, Sergeant Hinckley. He will provide you with his contact information and you will receive guidance on how to apply and a monthly email with regular updates. In addition, you will be provided the opportunity to meet Sergeant Hinckley, who will explain and demonstrate some of the physical fitness tests at our training center. This will allow you to test yourself and become familiar with what the minimum requirements are, so you can learn what you need to do to get ready for an exciting career in law enforcement. Chabot College will schedule an intensive format Regular Basic Course Academy. Present and past academies are made up of a variety of law enforcement agency recruits. The academy is 1,064 hours in length.

POST CERTIFICATION: 1010-00100 - POST PLAN IV Reimbursable
COLLEGE CREDITS: Chabot College will award 29 units for successful completion of the academy.

Basic Academy students may be eligible for student assistance through Chabot College.
Military Veterans can receive benefits with the GI Bill and may also be eligible for finanical assistance for tuition and uniforms, through our partnership with Swords to Plowshares ( a non-profit dedicated to serving veterans).

UPCOMING TEST DATES: Testing for the 2023 Night Academy will start in June 2022. Interested non-affiliate students should use the "Register" tab at the bottom of this page to place themselves on the interest list. All students on this list will be notified of the date we begin accepting applications and the upcoming testing schedule.
