1 - Day Civilian Motorcycle Basic 2

FEE: $200.00 (Additional $50.00 rental fee for motorcycle)

LOCATION: Alameda County Sheriff's Office - Regional Training Center, 6289 Madigan Road, Dublin CA 94568 [MAP]

DESCRIPTION: This program is designed to teach intermediate riding skills to students. This training covers much of those skills taught to police motor officers. It is a highly tactical and defensive training environment, and very challenging.

The program is taught by professional experts who have been teaching police officers for decades. We have married the unique and special skills from police motorcycle training with those taught on the outside to provide the most varied and complete training found anywhere.

Most accidents and collisions can be avoided. The tactical skills, advanced defensive driving components, and tactical evasive techniques that are taught to police officers are now being offered to the public. Learn the secrets that keep motor officers alive.

PREREQUISITE - Effective Jan 2017:

  • Must present certificate of completion of Alameda County's 1-Day Basic Civilian Motorcycle Course. Certificate must have been issued within the last 12 months.
  • Riding skills test will be given at the beginning of the class.  You must successfully pass this test to continue the course. Test consists of consistently completing 18 foot u-turns in a cone pattern.

INTERMEDIATE Class - If you can consistently make 18 ft U-turns, then this is the class for you.  You will learn to make quick, tight transition turns, emergency turning movements and advanced emergency braking.  You will also learn proper turning techniques for both uphill and downhill U-turns.  Weather and time permitting, there will also be some off-road riding.

RENTAL MOTORCYCLES: All rental motorcycles are retired police Kawasaki KZ1000's.  The rental allows you to use the motorcycle at our facility only during the time of the class.  The saddle height generally accomodates students 5'4" or taller.  We also have a Honda Rebel, for rent, if you believe the height of the Kawasaki may be a problem.
